This is our story

Our small family business started by chance and necessity. The Blue Collar roots run deep for us both, watching our parents trade their manual labor and time for a paycheck.

At the age of 18, Marvin went to work for one of the bigger industrial plants in Atlanta. A good job with benefits, just as a boy was expected to do growing up in rural Georgia in the 70’s.

Teresa went to college for a couple of years and did well but didn’t have a strong sense of where she wanted to go from there. It was about that time, along came this certain guy that somehow convinced her to marry him and take a little time off from school.

She soon took a full time job in retail and never looked back.

Fast forward three and a half years…

The first of three sons is born, each being five years apart!

From there, long story short, the years roll by, life is lived, we are blessed as a family, couldn’t really ask for much more.

Then in 2006, with the oldest son in college, the announcement was made by Marvin’s employer that the plant was closing permanently. The family’s main source of income was going away.

Teresa, who was a stay at home mom until the kids were older, also worked a lot of jobs but realized the need for something better.

With a son in the middle of his college career and all the expenses that go with it including the used, high dollar, text books that were literally piling up. The college book store thought a lot of their books when you were paying them, but not so much if you were selling them back.

Teresa, being the problem solver she is, decided to sell them herself.

After much due diligence she decided to try this thing called Amazon.com that connected buyers and sellers of used books on something called the internet 😉

From that, eventually, Turkey Creek Essentials brand cleaning products was born.

She was and still is the driving force behind our small business. Through many ups and downs and a learning curve that at times seemed too difficult to even try to move forward, we have a achieved a successful, trademarked, Amazon brand registered, business:

“Turkey Creek Essentials“

Named for a small, pristine, stream that runs near our home, we thought it kind of conveyed the same sense of freshness that a well cleaned room, office, garage, or even a warehouse does.

The fact that our products are made in the USA is a big deal to us. We are honored to support United States business owners and blue collar workers because we feel a strong bond to both, given our present situation and our background.
